Since I was a young boy growing up in a small mid-western farm community, I have been fascinated with creating things. I was that child you sometimes see, contently creating things with Tinker Toys and Legos. Fortunately for me, my father recognized this quality in me at an early age and not only instilled that diligent mid-western work ethic, but also guided me into a career in which I could use that gift. That passion to create is still alive today with the only difference being, the things I create now are much bigger and much more useful. It is through this work that I get the chance to share that gift with the world.

I have spent the last 3 years creating and managing the Power BI reporting solution for Contec Inc, a global leader in the cleanroom products market and headquartered in Spartanburg South Carolina. This involved building the solution from the ground up, setting up the Power BI Gateway connection to the companies ERP system, setting up the workspace structures, creating and supporting reports, setting up build standards, managing access, and providing guidance and training.

Prior to Contec I spent eight years managing IT systems for the Quality group of ZF Transmissions in Greenville South Carolina. This involved the establishment of new processes at this 3,000-person green-field site and the integration of these processes with SAP and other systems. While working closely with both processes and systems, it made me an effective contributor for the development and performance of systems training within the Quality organization. This was also a wonderful opportunity for me to build relationships with managers and users across the organization and to help make users happier and more efficient as a team. This could not have been possible without a solid background in manufacturing.

Having 30 years of experience in the Manufacturing, Process and Quality Engineering fields serving the manufacturing sector, primarily in automotive, has given me a depth of understanding about processes, equipment and products considered unique in my field. I’ve worked in various roles listed above with some of the industry’s most well-known companies including Bosch, TI Automotive, Kautex-Textron, Faurecia Exhaust, Key Plastics, Kuss Filtration, Aeroquip – Eaton , Federal Mogul, Teleflex, L3 Communications, Dura Automotive Systems, OneCare consumer products packaging, Lear and ZF Transmissions.

As an experienced facilitator of team based problem solving and an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, I’ve solved quite a few problems in my career. I have effectively applied Toyota Production System methods such as Kaizen, Kanban, JIT, One-Piece flow, SMED and 5S.  Additionally, my use of Six Sigma tools such as the DMAIC process, project charter, value stream mapping, SWOT, DOE, SIPOC, QFD, Pareto diagram and fishbone have made me more effective at designing better processes. These tools and techniques are still very relevant today for cost reduction and sheer competitiveness in the manufacturing and service industries.

I am a graduate of Purdue University Global, formerly Kaplan University, with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors, I have excellent learning skills and an innate ability to evaluate projects and situations quickly, thereby adding value to an organization. I also hold two degrees from ITT Technical Institute, an associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Automated Manufacturing Technology, giving me more insight into manufacturing equipment and technologies.

If you have process or systems issues, and you need someone that has a passion for creating and improving them, let’s talk.

To “convey,” verb, to make (an idea, impression, or feeling) known or understandable to someone...

The ability to capture and communicate a process, thereby changing the workflow to use a new software is a rare commodity. Little did I realize (thanks to my recent projects) that not everybody has the ability to think outside of the box...see the Big Picture. In addition, taking it a step further, I find the needs for improved software development incorporating the “human” element; as well as creating efficiency and minimizing user error possibilities.

To put it in terms of what everybody can relate to it is like a Lego creation made of interlocking (interacting) parts...but the decisive factor is to do so without a blueprint. My son, Eric, is exceptional at this skill. He is not one to use manuals. Yet, he develops projects without skipping the smallest of details...he even went as far as to create the toy “battery” to go with the toy “Remote” that controlled the toy “plane” - how cool is that!

The world, whether living or technical, fascinates me. We do not live in an isolated vacuum. Humans are relational by nature. Therefore to merge the two takes an understanding of both worlds; and whether we like it or not we are immersed daily in technology...cars, cell phones, television, microwaves, etc.

A Scientist + MBA = an analytical thought process that can not only capture the minute details, but also to transcend and see the “whole.” Recently, I have ventured into the Health Information arena. Credentials at bottom...

This innate talent to capture processes, along with having an exceptional understanding of software, allows me to present solutions that are unique or have previously gone unnoticed.

In addition, all the teaching I have done over the past 20 years (personally and professionally), I am able to “convey” the software’s capabilities to the individual through the training material.

Add a double dose of German inheritance with the previously mentioned education and experience results in a dependable, hardworking individual who is committed in helping improve your world!
